Description        

•             Error: "Print, preview or email has failed because Sage 50 can't locate the form file" when I try to print, preview or email.

•             Sage 50 can't locate the form file in the Printer Form Settings. To correct this error, in the Description box, select the correct form. If you are using a user-defined form, click Browse and select the correct file you want to use.

•             I cannot print, preview or email my payroll cheques.

•             I cannot print, preview or email my payment cheques.

•             I cannot print, preview or email my invoices.

•             The directory where I save my custom form template is empty.

•             Purchase journal print or email error

 

 

Cause   

•             Cheque form directory/ filename incorrect

•             Custom form has been moved from original directory

 

 

Resolution         

Method I: I am trying to print a cheque (Payment or Paycheque)

1.            When you get the error message, click OK.

2.            The Reports & Forms Options window appears.

3.            On the right-side, under the Payment Cheque Settings:

4.            If the Description is set to "User-defined [form type]" then

1.            If you have customized your own form, check the form path to make sure the form selected is available and you can always click Browse button to choose a valid form template.

2.            If you do not remember or did not personalize a form, then you can change the Description to a stock Sage 50 cheque form.

•             For "Payment Cheque Settings" choose Payment cheque - Easy Align.

•             For "Payroll Cheque Settings" choose Payroll Cheque with YTD totals - 2 Stub Easy Align.

o             Note: Even if you don't use payroll, change the form

1.            Click OK.

2.            Print the cheque(s).

Method II: I am trying to print another form such as an invoice

1.            When you get the error message, click OK.

2.            The Reports & Forms Options window appears.

3.            On the right-side, under the Printer Form Settings:

4.            If the Description is set to "User-defined [form type]" then check the form path to make sure the form selected is available and you can always click Browse button to choose a valid form template.

5.            If you do not remember or did not personalize a form, then you can change the Description to Invoice

o             Repeat the same process for the E-mail Form Settings.

o             If E-mail Form Settings does not exists, then skip it.

6.            Click OK.

7.            Print your form. 

Method III: I am trying to email a Payroll Direct Deposit stub

1.            When you get the error message, click OK.

2.            The Reports & Forms Options window appears.

3.            On the left side, select Direct Deposit Payroll Stub.

4.            On the right-side, locate the Email Form section (lower half).

5.            If the Description is set to "User-defined [form type]" then check the form path to make sure the form selected is available.

o             You can always click Browse button to choose a valid form template if you have personalized the form and know where it is stored on your computer.

6.            If you do not remember or did not personalize a form, change the Description from "User-defined [form type]"  to "Direct Deposit Payroll Stubs".

7.            If you click OK and it gives you error that form cannot be located, then repeat the same process for the Printer form Settings for Direct deposit Stubs.

8.            Click OK.

9.            Email the stubs.

Method IV: My custom form no longer exists in the original directory

1.            Locate your custom form in the new directory path

o             If there is no custom form, create a new one

o             Refer to KB 10084 in Related resources "How to customize forms to modify text, data, images or add a company logo"

2.            Go to Setup, Reports & Forms, choose form on left

3.            Under Print Using select Custom Form

4.            Under Description select User-defined

5.            Make sure Form is empty

6.            Click Browse

7.            Guide to new directory location and click on custom form filename

8.            Click Open

9.            Click OK
